Hello - I was one of the people who mentioned Tobins furniture and I knew your grandfather very well. I lived right across the street from Tobin's loading 'dock' 20th St, right below 5th Ave. Your grandfather
and my dad were good friends - my sister and I called your grandfather
Uncle Paul (we always thought he was our real uncle). My dad's name was Tony Bruno (he also hung out in Mike's Bakery). And we knew
Danny who worked with your grandfather for years. He lived in the
same house as my grandmother and Aunts & Uncles, on 20th St. also.

Who are your parents? I remember him having a daughter or two - Saraphina??? not sure. I'll have to get my sister Phyllis on here -
she's a little older and knows more. Either way - it is great to meet you.

Your grandfather was a wonderful man, and was a part of our daily lives
growing up. After all, we lived on the stoop.... and watched him all day
    long.

I remember the little gated area on the side of the 'warehouse' entrance where they'd leave the cardboard boxes and we'd play in them. Especially when it snowed - what fun.

Thanks for the opportunity to share a fond memory.... What is your name?
Don't want to assume Dawn.... Take Care...

TERRY - HI my friend. I haven't had a chance to see the picture you posted of us on Facebook. You have me posted everywhere.... I
did start the registration a few days ago - but then they were asking
detailed question's and I didn't want to go there. When I get home I will
check it out. Speaking of which - I came to the house to check in
on Continental for tomorrow's flight and came to this Site.. You know
Frank's wondering where the hell I am... Oh my....

Also, some folks on here don't have their names posted - so I'm not sure
who is who - for example, when I was trying to get on to this site, I saw
T-Bone and ignored it thinking I was in wrong place... And it was YOU!

I am looking forward to getting 'home' tomorrow (wherever that is these
days), and I miss my furry babies so much. Love You!!

  • Subject: in answer to your questions

Hi everyone, I'm new at this so bear with me! Someone asked about my parents - Yes, Serefine is my mother (alive and well and retired in NJ) - my Dad was "Red" or Butch Hansen (from 20th Street). He passed many years ago. Everyone knew my Grandpa - he was a local fixture. He was an usher at St. John's, worked Bingo, played cards at St. Anna's, and delivered furniture. Sadly he passed in 1989 and did not get to see many of his great grandkids. Grandma "Kitty" passed in March of '97.

Some of you know my sisters as well. Denise is married to a great guy (21 years now) and has 2 great kids. Allison is 19 and attends Georgian Court University and Anthony, Jr. attends Brookdale College. Deana married that same guy she was dating at 15! Their oldest, Billy was just married in June, and their youngest Nicole (12) is a total trip! I have 2 wonderful boys. Louis (17) is in his Senior year of HS and my baby (James-named after my Dad) is 13 and started 8th grade! Where did the time go.......

We all live in NJ now, except my brother Paul. He will never leave Brooklyn!

My Mom sends regards to all!
  • Sorry, I didn't mean to relix on this site in front of everyone, lol. I meant realized .............. Janet
