Immigration Question — Brooklynian

Immigration Question

I have a student whose parents immigrated from Mexico when he was one year old. They came illegally. His mother has been paying taxes, but they have never applied for citizenship. He is lost about how to go about it on his own. He has someone who will sponsor him, but he doesn't know how to start. Does the employer just put him on the payroll? Does anyone have advice? A good immigration lawyer?

  • I know an excellent, caring immigration lawyer. His name is Eugene Goldstein, his address is 150 Broadway, Suite 1115
New York NY 10038, and his phone is (212) 374-1544.

I am not he, and he doesn't owe me $$.

I just know him to be an excellent and empathetic attorney.
  • Years back I referred someone here (see below) with excellent results.
It is run by the Brooklyn Diocease, but you don't have to be Catholic to use their services. If I remember correctly, there was no charge, just paying the fees for filings etc. Their website appears to be down at this time. They were very nice, competent and efficient.

    Catholic Migration Office
    (718) 236-3000

  • Subject: Immigration Information at BPL Adult Learning Center

Good Morning: The Adult Learning Center at the Central Library will be holding a free immigration workshop with an excellent attorney. Call 718-230-2191 during the week (but not on Monday Jan.12) to find out the time.
The information is free, up to date and no strings attached.
  • Doesn't the Y also offer services?
