I guess you think twice about allowing your Park Slope gifted children to play in wild forests as well, huh? Whooole lotta bird, racoon, bear, deer crap, laying around there, and they don't even clean up after themselves.
Not to mention, have you ever seen a bear piss? It makes a German Shepherd look like a squirt gun. -

I don't know why you got your panties in a knot. Part of the risk besides getting a ticket is putting up with "people with too much time on their hands". I mean, did they "hound" you all the way home. Maybe they need to get a life, but you my friend need to grow some thicker skin. -
Obamanut - you're missing the point. It's not just about you. Many people fought long and hard to get and keep the off leash privileges we all enjoy in Prospect Park. It's people like you who are going to give the anti-off leash people, and there are many of them, the ammunition to try to get the privilege taken away. I, for one, resent the fact that you think your right to break the law is greater than the common good. You are wrong.

Yeah, well it didn't always used to be that way in this neighborhood. I have very thick skin when it comes to most all situations in life, but there are a select two or three types of people in this world whom I have zero tolerance for; self-entitled Park Slope yuppies being one of them. Usually I manage to carry on my affairs in the area without having any contact with them, which is why it bothers me so much when I'm forced to interact with them, and they try to drag me into their nit-picking, low-level, deranged existence.

I don't want the crappy law we have about letting our dogs off leash to be taken away. And I've been known to call people out for endangering my life and my dog's when they choose to park at the fire hydrant while he's doing his business (in the street - NOT the sidewalk). I recently had to bang on the back of a van window as he tried to back into the illegal space while my dog was shitting. He got out of his van and started yelling "What the fuck are you doing?" When I yelled back "My dog is taking a shit here!" he yelled back "fuck your dog!" After another woman walking by noticed us and said something about him being an asshole, he realized he had witnesses and he drove away.

OK winstonsmith, I clean up after my dog and I most certainly do not let her pee on playground equipment or flower beds or anything like that. But, obviously that is still not good enough for you.
So, what do you suggest? no dogs anywhere ever again? or, perhaps i should potty train my dog and carry a special toilet with me for her? -
there are some laws I break all the time. That said, if (after looking) I make a U-turn in the middle of the street (to get a parking spot) and somebody calls me out on it, I'd shut my mouth since I'm doing something wrong.
I love dogs. I have a "rental doggy". I do my best to keep her on the leash and follow the laws (she doesn't like to walk sometimes, so i have to drop the leash and say "I'm leaving you there!" and walk a few steps before she follows me)....but when i don't, I'd expect to be fair game for either a ticket or somebody giving me shit. -

Yeah, I have been known to take my dogs (total weight 18 pounds) to the park on a Tues afternoon and have my husband walk away by 15 feet and let the little guys run between us. Once... I got a ticket and I didn't give any mouth to the officer. I paid it. I had violated the law. Afew times people have yelled at me.. Keep your dogs on the leashes (well they were dragging their leashes as they ran between us) but I just shut my mouth.

people seem to think that smokers have no manners; perhaps some don't. when i was a smoker, i did.
i had this happen to me ad nauseum and i have to tell you that it sucks. yes, i can smoke outdoors, but if i am offending you or your breathing i'd gladly have moved. i can't tell you how many times people came up to me and told me i truined their afternoon/meal/whatever. first of all, move. second of all, if you can't move, ask nicely and i'd gladly have stomped it out. because i have manners.
