Subject: Sharlene's
Does anyone know if we can bring in takeout at Sharlene's? I just announced it as a meeting place for tonight and need to know if I should arrive fed or not. I'd rather just bring in food, but need to know if that's allowed. -
Sharlene was OK with my friend bringing in a piece of pizza last week. It was a quiet night in the bar. Don't know if that made a difference to her about it or not.

I may be in the minority, but I hope the background sound (i.e., music or TV) level is moderate. I like going to a bar with friends and being able to hear them without shouting over the music, as I've found in several places within in the neighborhood (I live 2 blocks from Sharlene's). Don't get me wrong--I'm *fine* with some music or TV, and would even love on occasional (loud) live music event. I just need something that I can routinely walk into and walk out of without worrying about inner-ear damage.
I've asked a couple of bartenders about the volume level in their places, and they shrug and say, "it's a bar." Did I miss the moment when the definition of "bar" included "loudness"?
That said, I'm looking forward to trying out Sharlene's. -
It's loud. They have a great jukebox though, thoughtfully filled with classics, oldies, and good current rock. It's definitely loud though, but you can pull off a conversation at a short distance

Sorry everyone, but I can't stand the way people bring in takeout food and sit around sucking on chicken wings from metal trays. I went in expecting the cocktail lounge it was presenting itself as, but found the aspirations they had didn't jibe with the greasy food smell and piles of takeout refuse piled up at the bar and on the floor.

Hey,
can someone let me know if a dart board got put in at Sharlene's? Thanks!
Or other spots with a dart board? -

Loki also has it.

Is there a place where people play regularly? Way back when, you could always walk into Mooney's and find a pick-up game. I'd love to find a place where I could go and have a game or two without having to organize a bunch of friends.
