Yes! And watch how you rest your chin on the phone, too.

I'm defintely guilty of this and the pimples on my chin are deep, hurt like hell and take forever to go away. i started putting wipes in my drawer so i can swab the phone down
  • OK Flexi, a few things! One, NO MORE DIGGING! Unless you know how to properly use a comedone extractor, I highly recommend not using it -- especially if it's the one that looks like a teeny tiny melon baller (this one is evil!) Two, I know you said you don't have cystic acne, but if they "are deep, hurt like hell and take forever to go away", well they may be cystic. Do they come around the same time every month in the same general area?
Definitely stop touching them, pull your hair off your face if your hair is long.
For starters, need to know your cleansing routine, and any makeup you are using. Then we can go from there :-) If you want you can PM me.

  • i swear by nelsons acne gel. it's marketed as "homeopathic," but it contains some basic anti-acne ingredients (alcohol, tea tree oil) in addition to its tinctures. i keep it in the refrigerator, and between the cooling and the drying it will shrink a loud red pimple down to an unobtrusive dot within a few hours. if i remember to put it on twice a day, the zit will usually be gone by day four at the latest. it only works for spot treatment, though; i haven't found any way of consistently preventing them.
  • where do you buy it, brokechick?
  • i bought my most recent tube at whole foods. it is a health-food-store kind of product--plant extracts, no animal testing, all that earthy stuff--and i can't remember ever seeing it in a regular drugstore, but i haven't had to buy it in a while and haven't looked, so maybe it's in other places. i was a little skeptical about it at first and just threw it in my basket in a "it can't make things worse" moment, but it's all i've used for years now.
  • I bought a Zeno. It's...interesting. I can't really tell though, if it works or not. Basically, the tip of the device gets VERY hot and you place on the bad boy in question and let it sit there for 2 1/2 minutes. It's supposed to decrease the life span of the zit. Kinda like Cold-eeze. So, while you still may get the cold, it won't be as long and it won't be as severe.....but how do you know for sure? Anyway- just thought I'd share.
  • hmmmm....how much is that thing? I've done the hot washcloth on a pimple before....
  • Well, I bought it off of someone, so I only paid $25. But I think they sell it for $125 in stores.

Right now I have a particularly bad one (well, not bad, just in a bad spot)- I used it last night- and it got bigger this morning! BUT! I used it again this morning and its gone down A LOT in just a couple of hours. Going to use it again this afternoon and see how it goes.
  • Flexi, I use this great facial mask stuff I bought at Sephora, it works amazingly well! Even hubby has used it and says it works. it's a bit pricey, but, you get a large tub of it and it does the job.
  • ^which one?
  • I am 44, still get zits.

to try and combat this I:

    1. wash daily with anti-zit soap
    2. try to use some kind of anti-zit astringent before bed
    3. try not to limit my sugar intake which is very hard as I love to drink and I love to smoke and get the munchies.
    4. be a voracious pimple popper
