THE COFFEE IS COMING! — Brooklynian

THE COFFEE IS COMING!

Hey everyone. I am keeping to my word to keep you kids informed on the status of the soon to be coffee shop that is going to hit f.a. The current tenants will be leaving on the 1st or the 2nd of the month. i will be breaking the place apart as soon as i have it back. I hope to have the shop up and running in one month. I am also looking to hire a staff for the coffee shop. All new hires will be trained. If any one has any interest i will be accepting resumes at the shop or at fishers. Thanks. See you around!!!!!!!!!!

    where will you be located?
  • 809 franklin ave
  • This is great news! Just wondering though, is the occupant currently in there the construction manager of the giant gaping hole on Franklin and E. Parkway? Does anyone have any idea what's going on there? I mean, besides it sitting vacant all winter, spring and probably summer?
  • can't wait to check it out :)
  • that's great! lots of foot traffic.

Yes, that is the current occupant. And while I don't know what's going on for sure, I've heard that the funding on that prpoject ran dry, and the expectation of having the capital to see construction through based upon unit pre-sales never happened, so the developer continues to attempt to put new financing in place. Clearly a very difficult thing to do right now in the ongoing "credit freeze".
  • What kind of coffee are you serving? What else will be on the menu? WiFi?
  • if the construction management is moving out of the space, does that confirm the huge gaping hole will remain indefinitely? i don't pass it during the day, but is there actually no construction on the NE corner of franklin and the parkway?

    i hope it's wonderful coffee.
  • i haven't seen any activity recently, but with the onset of summer, my hours have changed drastically. i saw a lot of work last fall and spring.. i hope this doesn't mean we're left with this small-sidewalk and unattractive plywood and the huge hole for a long time - maybe they're working when i just don't see it anymore.
  • It's been months since there's been any activity there. I can't imagine that they were able to secure funding/credit for the upcoming stages of construction. My guess is that we've got a nice quasi-hole on our hands for a few years.
  • I'd like to request wifi too, please! And vegan baked treats. And lots and lots of delicious and interesting teas! Then I'll be happy happy happy to spend my money with you.

Please do not charge Manhattan prices for espresso drinks - especially since you won't be paying Manhattan rent.

    Thank you!
  • This place will be a disaster...
  • congrats on the coffee shop
  • I think that you should also offer sports drinks like V water and Gatorade.Even better backfill that big f hole that was dug up to build...the replacement of dirt could be a great place for a bmx track.or maybe an obstacle course where the days fastest time gets a free cup of joe.Get those fake construction lumps out of their so I can get a latte. If your not going to put up a bldg at least plug in the coffee pot on your way out.
  • Who owns that lot? Mazon or Fishers? Tony please let us know. Thanks.
  • Mazon owns the lot, He was renting the store front from Fisher, and as far as back filling the lot for a BMX track, dont count on it.
  • There is an organic Coffee shop opening in the old Point De Couture store front . Franklin and St. Johns....

  • Hi neighbors!

My name is Leeza- my partners (Frank and Jason) and I recently took over the old Point De Couture store (Franklin & St. John's) and we're very excited to be bringing an organic coffee house to the neighborhood!

We're here to introduce ourselves, answer any questions you may have and of course listen to any suggestions/requests.
  • This is very exciting!
My biggest question is - what will your hours be? It is so annoying that no where on my way to the train is open when I am going to work. I would love a 6am or 6:30am opening time!
  • Hey. Should I make a Twitter account for my coffee shop? I dont want to piss anyone off. Anyway here is the deal. I am getting very close to opening. I dont want to give out too much info but be assured that when i open every one will know. I wont be selling organic coffee ( what ever that is ) but i will have really good coffee. Also i am pleased to tell every one that i am sleeping as much as i can right now, so that when i open the shop everyone will have 6 o clock joe. As i said before i dont want to divulge any info concerning the menu and drinks. It seems that I have competition. Whatever its all good. I envision FA in five to ten years to be a cafe/resturant/bar/night club destination for all kinds of peps. Later
  • Hi Xlizelix,

Nothing is set in stone but for now the hours of operation will be:

    Mon-Fri 7:00AM-7:00PM

    Sat 10:00AM-6:00PM

    Sun 12:00PM-5:00PM

We are a neighborhood coffee shop so we'll accommodate the neighborhood needs and demands.

    Tony,

We couldn't agree more- Franklin Avenue will be bustling with a great selection of restaurants, bars and cafe's. We're couldn't be happier to be here!

We look forward to meeting you over a cup of joe- yours or ours.

In the meantime- organic means: foods (in this case coffee beans) produced according to a certain standard. Free of pesticides, hormones, and are generally not genetically modified. It's not just good for the body- it's better for the environment too as it's sustainable, eco-friendly farming.
  • I thinks under the circumstances i would rather have another coffee house in the area compared to another hair salon. Whatever. I think that you should know that i am very well aware of what ORGANIC is. And i would like to say that since this is sort of getting like a "cyberwar" (being that you keep posting under my blog) I will stick to my guns and not give away too much info at this time. All that i have to say is that i always wish people well. We must work hard to pick up the standard of stores on FA. Hopefully if all runs well, I will be closing Fishers some time towards the end of the year to make way for a more natural market. We will see. The only thing that prevented me from doing this in the past was the $$$$$$$$$$$. The banks didnt want to lend. We will see what happens now. Later Kiddies!
