  • Why not justify the WTC bombings? What is the difference between that and throwing shoes at somebody's head as hard as you can other then degree.
  • modsquad wrote: Carnivore were you for the taking by Iran of the Americans as hostages? By your rules we can dispense with Rules of Order or whatever you call them if we disagree with someone.
    Straw man argument.

What's the difference between a terrorist attack against innocent Americans and throwing a shoe at the person who is directly responsible for invading and occupying your country? Surely you can't be serious.

Carnivore, asking if other people are serious. That is funny. Isn't Carnivore the one who said that the roots of the Iraq war go back only 8 years. So funny.

Not funny at all. But since you're such an expert, I'd appreciate if you could explain those "deep roots" were relevant to Bush's decision to invade and occupy the country.
  • Sorry

you were the one who said that the roots of the Iraq war go back 8 years, you are the one with the shallow view on history, you are the one with explaining to do. I guess with your 8 year theory, you are basically saying to people in Iraq and the Middle East that their concerns and history don't matter, only your 8 year memory based on Bush hate. I actually think that Iraq has a case to be made that they got screwed when their country was formed and that the region has an interest in dealing with the issues of ports and resources, but your 8 year hate Bush approach is so much cleaner.

  • Let me know when you're ready to explain how the concerns of the people of Iraq had anything to do with Bush's decision to invade. Otherwise, please continue to slap each others' backs.

please explain your 8 year theory of Middle Eastern history. I need a good laugh.

You're the one making a positive assertion (that events prior to Bush were of major relevance to the decision to invade), thus the burden of proof lies with you.

Still waiting for you to explain the Carnivore 8 year theory of history. Maybe you can find an inaccurate cartoon to do so. We can bust on that too!
  • Before Carnivore came along, I thought the creation of the Middle East was complicated, going back many years, many wars, many leaders, and with many grievances. Apparently, as Carnivore says, it all goes back 8 years. Bush hate is so funny.

What I am saying is not that that history didn't exist, but that Bush did not seem to consider any of those things in deciding to invade. If you have evidence to say otherwise, please show it.
  • I'm sorry did somebody mention evidence??

Smart move Carnivore. You can't support your 8 year theory of history, so you change it and modify. Good move. You finally got out of that corner.

You might be right about what Bush did and did not consider. To be fair, we really don't know what Bush considered. I voted for Bush (the second time) and found out that he is not the brightest bulb on the tree. As I have said all along, I supported the war in Iraq from a human rights perspective. I know, you may find that hard to believe, but unlike many Democrats and many Republicans, I actually believe in human rights for all (not just Americans) and can hold my nose and vote for Bush because of my beliefs.
  • Oh Shit sorry for the size.

Again, Glenn Beck has refused to respond to rumors circulating on the Internet about the allegations that he raped and killed a girl in 1990. I'm not claiming that it's true, only that he needs to respond to the allegations, and that the rumor must be examined to discover what evidence might exist.

  • Carnivore, you're the one who poured gasoline on this thread. You're the one who says Joe Wilson sucks cock. You're the one that says Glenn Beck kills girls. You're the one that says some predictable cartoon represents the whole Republican Party. Go back and show us your sources. Now your the one who wishes to rely on some understood etiquette for citing facts. I say here's my shoe!

So I guess that means that you can't explain how Bush took Iraq's long history into account in deciding to invade and occupy the country...

OK, I'm accusing you of blowing dogs during off leash hours in Prospect Park. You need to respond to this allegation. Anything less would be seen as an admittance of guilt.

It means I don't give a shit about that. I'm talkin' about you holding people to a higher standard than you hold yourself.

Of course your allegation is baseless. And by directly accusing me, you are now guilty of libel.

I'm sure I don't have to explain this, but in case you didn't know, the Glenn Beck thing is a parody of the way the media has seized on every bullshit "controversy" about Obama (Rev Wright, the birthers, etc) no matter how baseless, and put on a face of impartiality, as though just because 2 sides exist, they must be equal.

But the people who came up with that meme, took the right wing media playbook, and were smart enough to state very clearly that they were not making the allegation, but were merely exploring its validity, thus not engaging in slander or libel. You failed to take that precaution, although your point was basically the same as the one that the people who created that meme were trying to make.

I never said any of the things you say I did.

You obviously know as much about the law as you do history. Intent is everything and my intent was to illustrate by example how someone can accuse someone else in order to force them to deny it. Taken in the context of this thread your threat is laughable.
  • Carnivore,
As Hawkeye says to Maj. Duncan in the movie Last of the Mohicans, " Someday I think you and I are going to have a serious disagreement".
    Good bye.
  • Modsquad and Parker, you both have a dizzying intellect.

Bush fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous of -is never get involved in a land war in Asia.
