No, not THAT farmer's market — Brooklynian

No, not THAT farmer's market

Subject: No, not THAT farmer's market

Anyone been to this one? How does it compare to the Grand Army Plaza greenmarket?
Community Markets is starting its third annual Park Slope Farmers’ market on Fifth Avenue and 4th St. (JJ Byrne Park) at 11 AM – 5 PM, June 4th. The market will run every Sunday through November, and will feature farm fresh produce, vegetables, meats and breads. Nope, we’re not Greenmarkets. Nor are we affiliated with the Grand Army Plaza market. We pick up the Sunday crowd living on the western edge of the slope. But of course everybody is welcome!

  • I went there last year, and the only booths were a pickle monger and a purveyor of baked goods. Not very exciting, but the pickles were good.
  • same experience here.

    pickle monger + cookie seller

hope there's more stuff this year

    Hey everyone,
Have been reading your comments, and I promise you a much improved 5th Avenue Farmers' Market for 2006. Rather than the "two" vendors we had last year, this year we have 9:
    1) Alex's Tomato farm - selling veggies/produce
    2) Bombay Emerald Chtuney Co. selling chutneys and toppings
    3) Bread Alone - Dan Leader's awesome bread and baked goods
    4) Columbia/Dutchess Meat Co-op - all natural meat and poultry
    5) Dr. Pickle
    6) Hector Perez/alex farm- produce, fruit, berries
    7) Nolasco Farm - specalizes in Latin-American produce
    8) Paisley Upstate Farm (coming in July) organic produce
    9) Pastries by Peggy - scones, cookies, sweet pastries

Nope, we're not as enormous as the Grand Army Plaza market, but we're small and neighborhoody. Also we're on Sundays and geared towards the southern and eastern slope. Hope you'll come out and visit!
