We regret to inform you that we've had to postpone our grand opening.

We'd like to wish Tony a happy opening on Monday!

please keep us updated - I'm a vegan in the neighborhood and am looking forward to checking you guys out.

Before anything i would like to thank all the people coming in and expressing their support for the coffee shop. We got set back a bit because of custom refrigs are taking a bit longer to make than we had hoped. We are still on target for an oct 5 opening date. If the date get pushed back i will post it. We will not be in business to turn people away. We will feature all sorts of coffee. We will have a house blend along with other blends such as rainforest, kenya, ethiopian, fair trade, south and central american, yemen, and yes organic too. We will offer organic milk, soy milk, half and half, heavy cream, whipped cream, and even regular milk. For people that like sugar, there will be sugar. If you , like splenda, equal, sweet-n-low, truvia, organic sugar, raw sugar, fair trade, or even no sugar you are welcome too. It might be a little bit premature to post the menu and other info online right now, but once the cafe is open I will.
Will most definately be stopping in here every a.m. for my morning joe. Thanks for bringing more and better buisnesses to the nabe, and here's hoping the shop is a success.
  • Wow.
Tony, will your coffee -- if it ever does get brewing -- be as bitter as your last post? If so, I sure hope for the sake of your business and your customers that you provide complimentary Zantac to cut the acidity.
We all love coffee and small business, so it is unfortunate for two much-anticipated new places to squander the internet opportunity and then BOTH overpromise and underdeliver by opening later than expected. Your Internet hours are better spent brewing coffee than trying to one-up each other on "your blogs."
We want and need good coffee. Your clientele is and has been waiting.
    Good luck to you both.

Just chiming in to say that often these things are beyond the owners control. It takes a lot to start a business, and anyone who has knows that sometimes things happen that throw you off schedule. A vendor can't deliver a piece of equipment in time, a license that should take three months to process takes five, or an investor pulls out at that last minute necessitating finding more capital. Cut them some slack.
  • Thanks!!!! Your first cup of coffee is on me.
  • i have never owned a business, but i own a house and it took me 10 months to close on a house that should have taken 3, so i am with you on that one. We have waited this long for a good coffee place in Franklin, we can certainly wait a little longer. Good luck to both places, and thanks for investing on Franklin Avenue :)
  • i agree with kenieva and homeowner. i am excited for both!
  • Walked by Tony's new cafe this morning and it looks fantastic. Just want to commend Tony on what a beautiful job he did. It's admirable that he put in the money and effort to make it aesthetically pleasing, as opposed to simply functional. I hope his efforts will pay off with lots of community support.

I look forward to the opening and wish Tony great success in this venture!
  • funny, I walked by yesterday and it looked like a a tornado went threw.
  • I just walked past the Breukelen place and it looks great -- nice stone work and a beautiful mirror above the counter bar place.

Tony's is looking good as well - the gate was down today when I went by, but the new doors look very nice!

What pleases me the most is that both places are putting real work into them to make them NICE and really adding something to the neighborhood - I love that people are putting effort into the area! It looks great.
  • Both venues have tried hard. There is some concern now that the awning has been cut down, FP you opening a food stall next to the coffee house? We need wings and other fried stuff, maybe a good burger. Dram is far away and Mitchells is closer but we need legit chicken. 1st lets get some am brew. The city of NY has once again shown it loves to f... people. If a guy is trying to start a place and will give you tax rev for years to come...come up with a flyer or a retired guy that can help small establishments flourish. A sink, water heater these guys would have done it from go had you helped out. TF. I hope the city gov will not put yours in the squeeze also. 2 guys with bags of coffee and machines to brew it but a city gov full of....you pick the word. Found in a catbox.
  • Hello everyone. I posted new pics on my twitter feed www.twitter.com/pulpandbean Thanks for all the support during this VERY stressful process. I hope to open very soon.
  • We're behind you, Tony! Can't wait to show our support when your store opens.
  • Subject: Franklin ave coffeehouse

As a resident of FA for 15 years, I am ecstatic to see both businesses opening. As a 4 cup of day coffee drinker, I can't wait to patronize both establishments. I usually wait til I get to work to have a cup of coffee, being able to stop on my way to the train will be sweet. I know Breukelen had a soft opening Sat, are you officially open yet? As for Pulp & Bean, love the name, are you open yet?
