  • I have had several different stages of life in the snow. When I was a young lad (boy is that a long time ago) it was all fun. Riding a sleigh, throwing snow balls at the girls (never with ice in the middle) building snow forts. There were only three cars on the block between 5th & 6th aves so we could play in the middle of the street. As i got a little older it was fun and worthwhile to shovel little old ladies sidewalks for them. Sometimes you would get a quarter. Other times a nickel, sometimes just the satisfaction of helping someone out .In the 1947 blizzard the cops rang everyones bell and told us that if we expected to get food and fuel deliveries in the neighborhood we would have to get out with shovels and help the sanitation department move the snow. We did get out and help. NO PAY EITHER! Some went down the sewers and some got loaded in trucks which took it to be dumped in the Gowanus. A little older yet and I found snow rotten to drive in. Lousy to walk to the subway to get to work and too much effort to shovel our own sidewalk. Finally one of the main the reasons I moved to Florida was to get away from snow. I lived in NJ and I have a picture on my server of myself and one of my neighbors shoveling with snow higher then our shoulders. Got no snow to worry about down here but it is damn cold by Florida standards. Expect 30's tomorrow am. Have had several days in the 20s this year. Aruba is sounding better every day! [-o< 8)
  • Hi
Warren and Carol....glad you have no snow....but that is cold for Florida....

Terry - Those pictures look so beautiful......
  • thought this was cute but it is an oldie..

Two Nuns and the Blind Man

Two nuns are ordered to paint a room in the convent in a renovation project, and the last

instruction of Mother Superior is that they must not get even a drop of paint on their habits.

After conferring about this for a while, the two nuns decide to lock the door of the room,

strip off their habits, and paint in the nude, and remove any paint residue upon a shower afterward.

Towards the end of the project, there comes an unexpected knock at the door.
"Who is it?", calls one of the nuns.

"Blind man," replies a voice from the other side of the door.

The two nuns look through a small peep hole and see a man standing outside in dark sunglasses.

They figured that someone directed him for some spiritual guidance and blessings.

So they shrug, and deciding that no harm can come from letting a blind man into the room,

so they open the door and let him in.

He quickly entered the room, took off his sunglasses and said:

"WOW! Nice Racks!" so, where do you want the blinds?"
  • HI GUYS..JUST PEEKING IN...

OK WILL PEEK BACK IN LATER... GOING TO READ NOW & THAN WATCH
    TV LATER ON...:)
  • Hi - I didn't go to work today but should have. I went 2x to shovel and was thinking about doing it again but my body hollered really loud and I'm really beat. Tomorrow's another day. My neighbors are great - we all help each other. The only problem is there's no place to put the snow. I can't see my mailbox!! The plow hasn't been down my street in hours. I don't know if I'm going to attempt to go to work tomorrow. I heard that another "plowable" snow will probably happen Monday night into Tuesday.

Is it summer yet? I swear I'll never complain about the heat again. Hey, did I hear Aruba?? Warren, I agree, Florida or Arizona it's gonna be for me. My very arthritic knees, ankles and back can't do to many more winters.

Happy Birthday Michael (in heaven and watching over us - hey do you think you can ask God to stop the snow, please??) and Marilyn.

Anna I heard about the earthquake - hope nothing happened to you or your house. That's scary.

Suzie what a pretty picture. Helen - how's Peter. What's the prognosis? Patsy and Judy - you going to work tomorrow? Patsy reading a good book right now, it's called Henry's Sisters by Cathy Lamb. A little sad but the story holds your attention.

Well, I'm going to relax now. Have to think about whether to go to work tomorrow.
  • Sorry - forgot to say HI to everyone else on right now. Have a great night.
  • HI KAREN.. THANX.. I WILL LOOK IN TO THAT BOOK...YES, I
