    He is so cute.
  • [quote="Suzie"]Goodmorning Everyone

Hi Warren ....wow...interesting that you said butter was on everything
I wonder if thats the reason we all have high cholesterol in this day!

Did you remember the Bakery on 15st above 5th ave....I cant believe
I forgot the name of it .....wait maybe Ebinger's. I also remember Larsen's
but not sure where they were.
The Loft's chocolate store next to Kresgee's
    Daniel's Florist on 9st and 5th ave
I remember my Mom always making a steak for dinner during the week
and Roast Beef or Lasagna on Sundays .....they always included fresh
mashed potatoes and a vegetable with a salad.

Hi Sue, I take Lipitor & my cholesterol is great! Sure I remember Loft's Daniels and the chain bakeries like Ebingers, Larsens & Cushman's. The bakery we went to was Levines on 5th Ave next to Michaels Furniture. It later became Laifers due to a death & marriage. Mrs Levine thought I was cute and used to give me the crumbs from the crumb bun tray. Sometimes on Sunday instead of the Messing cake for dessert we would go to Whelan's Drug store for ice cream comes. We did not have steak very often but on Sunday it was Roast Beef or Ham or Pork etc:. My Mother made the best home made Gravy in the world. That would go on the mashed potatoes, meat and if it was a veggie I did not care for it went on that too.

  • Correction: They were Ice Cream CONES!!!!

  • Hey Anthony, Funny you should mention Stage Door Canteen. I happened upon that movie also. I was having fun trying to identify all the stars. When I was stationed in Ft Knox KY we went to a USO club in Louisville that had all amatuer acts but it was on the same routine as the canteen. People in Kentucky were great. Treated us royally. Invited us to their homes etc:. More then I can say for the Ft Benning Georgia area. Down there GI's from the north were treated like garbage. That was of course in the 50's. I hope the attitude has changed by now. If Ft Benning ever shut down, so would Columbus GA. :D
