Taylor Ham? — Brooklynian

Taylor Ham?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
A friend of mine recently moved to Park Slope and is on the hunt for Taylor Ham. She actually schleps back to Jersey on a monthly basis to buy it, so I figured I'd try and find it locally for her.

Personally, I have no idea what "taylor ham" is, but this has GOT to be available in our nabe, right?

stop eeeet! I'm all squoooshy inside now..... :drunken:
  • Awesome. My ex, Jersey born and raised, is obsessed with the stuff. I never knew what it was either. I think it's like canadian bacon for canadian hating americans. Tee.
  • Here's some more (I get into researching things sometimes):

"You can buy pork roll at the Shop Rite in Brooklyn at 1080 McDonald Ave. They might sell it at the Foodtown on McDonald and Albemarle Road too."
  • mmm, pork roll and cheese on a kaiser roll. add to the menu spam (thinly sliced and slightly charred) and eggs, and tosino (sp?) - which for all the non-ricans out there is nothing more than pork fatback fried in a pan. it had the crispy pig skin side and the soft chewy fat side. so good.

watch, in the next 6 months, pork roll will appear in the eateries of cool kats and will be sold for $12.75 a sandwich.
  • Subject: Taylor ham

Forget the Taylor Ham (that's only the brand name anyway.)

Go to ShopRite and get ShopRite Tangy Pork roll!! Ohhh yeahhh. Much better. My son freezes 6 rolls and takes them in a cooler back to college in Chicago and the friends go NUTS when he cooks it for them.

It's got to be well done with an egg and cheese on a roll or just alone.

It'll clog your hearts in a heartbeat (excuse the pun.) But it's to die for!!!
  • Thanks...another unhealthy food I never heard of that I have to try.
  • Eagle Provisions on Fifth Avenue and 18th Street has it.

  • All right. Sending her to Eagle Provisions to check as that's right near her. Will report back.
  • Next time at Eagle I'm adding this to my cart along with their dried spaetzle...
  • "Pork Roll" -- that just sounds nasty.

Oooh, has anybody tried their dried spaetzle? is it good? I love me some spaetzle. Is it just plain or do they have other varieties (like cheese)?
