Has anyone noticed the Uncle Louie G's (being built) by the barbershop on Park Pl. by Carlton?

  • nope.

Is it taking out the Miss Muffin place or the eye place?

    excellent news
  • holy cow! best news i've heard all day (hoping they're just moving in next to little miss muffin & her stuffin... love them too).

been in the neighborhood for 10 years, and uncle louie g's are my favorite ices in nyc! oh man!!!
  • It's going in the old medical office space - furthest east in the row of shops in that stretch , not displacing ms. muffin.
  • What is it?
  • This is the best news to come along in Prospect Heights for a while. Now we do not have to walk all the way to Union/5th. Cannot wait to have my Lemon ices on the bottom and the Cherry on the top. just in time for Summer. Whoopeee! =P~
  • This is good news for that stretch of Park Pl, and I'm glad to hear it's not displacing Miss Muffin (agreed, it's a nice shop.)
  • I'm with CementBottom - Love the Uncle LouieG's - Whoo Hoo!
  • Damn, I got scooped! I took this pic a few days ago and have been meaning to post it:

  • Had some Louie G's today (PPSW) - coconut ice and lime ice combined. Hit the spot.
  • I noticed the sign today. I feel like I won the lotto. And like maybe there is some hope my son will learn to like ice cream.
  • Hope the uncle brings a broom...that little corner btwn the shop and the collapsing limestone stoop to the east always seems to be a magnet for trash (well highlighted in Carnivore's pic).

Wait, your kid doesn't like ice cream? I don't understand...

Wait, your kid doesn't like ice cream? I don't understand...

something is clearly wrong with her child. We should use tact and offer to eat any ice cream that would have been theirs....
  • the first day it broke 70 this season, i went to cobble hill and made it my mission to have some uncle louie g's mint chocolate chip ices on smith street. i'm almost afraid of how often i'm going to eat it now that it'll be an 8 minute walk...

any ideas as to when it'll open!? i obviously can't wait.
  • The best thing about uncle Louie g besides the icecream is that he drives a Hummer, unlike those wimpy Ben and Jerry (save the world) clowns.
  • They have the BEST chocolate peanut butter ice cream. YUM!!! want some right now...
  • I know it sounds crazy, but ice cream is "too cold" for my 3 year old. I've heard the same from at least one other parent. Of course, it makes me look like a very bad mom when I'm walking down the street with a cone and Junior has none.
  • Subject: Hope they will be open late!

So I can get ice cream on my way home. Benches?
  • I'm looking forward to having this in the neighborhood.
  • Haven't had any ice cream from Louie's - how does it compare to Blue Marble?
  • do they make nondairy "treats"? i loves me my lactose, but have a friend who's feeling left out by all the organic places...

um, Italian Ice meets that description.

Or do you mean that dairy free ice cream? ....kinda gross in my opinion. Like Tastee Delight, blech
  • Uncle Louie G's is THE BEST ice cream and ices anywhere for 100 miles.....FAR better - tastier, more interesting - than Blue Marble, whose popularity I fail to grasp. I mean, I've tried Blue Marble a couple of times but to be honest the ice cream from Trader Joe's tastes better.......now nothing compares to the hand-made ice cream I've had at a farm upstate where the cows that produce the milk that make the ice cream are right next to their little ice cream store, but here in the city, Uncle LG's is the best.

They have many rich-tasting ices that I presume are dairy free - but you'd want to ask to be sure.

Best thing about ULG's is that their ices, (chocolate peanut butter cup is my favorite) taste totally decadent but presumably have far less fat than ice cream.....

I can't wait for them to open up here! Of course it means I'll probably have to add in an Uncle Louie G's premium to my kids' allowances, but it's a small price to pay.
  • yeah, i meant non-dairy ice cream.
  • i don't believe they have any non-dairy ice cream, but the ices themselves can be a pretty great substitute. seriously - the mint chocolate chip or coconut ices (one scoop of each... my favorite) are so good!
  • aw, now i am craving something i've never even tasted!!
  • It's OPENNNNNN! Anyone been yet? I didn't get a chance as I was busy with my ice cream hatin' kid.
  • Yep...it's open and the pineapple coconut ice did not disappoint!
  • I have to disagree about about Louie G's, yes the ices are good, but the ice cream is very weak. Blue Marble is far better, and even Haagan Daz is better. But given the lack of other options its nice to have Louie G's around
