Those are your cross streets? How's the commute into the city from there? I always feel like that one is not a short commute, but I suppose that's all in perspective. It could just be the lack of convenience for transferring and Manhattan coverage of the train line
Regardless, walking around and checking out area businesses is the best way to get to know any new neighborhood. And you will likely stumble upon some great places. There are number of bars and restaurants in the area.
If that is the correct area, you have a library on DeKalb. There is Little Skips and Anthom for coffee. Beauty Bar always has music and dancing. You are right by Goodbye Blue Monday. You are not too far from the B38 and B54 so you have access to most of Bed Stuy, Bushwick and Fort Greene. You have access to Myrtle Avenue and are not too far from Fulton Street. -
Sam, ride the bus to Prospect Pond on Washington Avenue. I hear that it's a fun place.
