Parkside Ave - Is it safe?

I put in an application for an apartment on Bedford and Lenox. It's half way between the Parkside Ave stop on the Q and the 2/5 at Winthrop. I've heard mixed reviews as to whether or not this area is safe. (esp at night for a single female) Can anyone provide insight?

  • Area is so-so, not the best, but not the worst,either (e.g. Brownsville, Ocean Hill, ENY, etc.). The 2/5 Winthrop stop is very deserted at night and has no token booth on the southbound side, so be wary, especially if you're in the rear of the train, which is far from the lone exit. Q Parkside is more lively.

  • I'm a white female who lived on Hawthorne between Bedford and Rogers for three years. I always felt safe coming from from either the Winthrop stop or the Parkside stop at any hour of the day or night. But, if you are hesitant, you probably wouldn't be ...
