Hi Judy, Warren, Joe, Rosie, Jeanette, Jerry, Anna, Karen, Helen, MaryAnn and any one I missed.
Kevin went to an Army college football game today at West Point with my 2 brothers, needless to say it got cancelled because their power went out. It took them 3 hours just to get to the NY Thruway...they left at 3:30 and still aren't home. I just hope they are careful, they said there are downed trees everywhere [-(

HELLO EVERYONE....
.....WELL, IT'S HALLOWEEN AND MORE IMPORTANT, HALLOWEEN NIGHT. JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS HOLIDAY AND WHERE IT CAME FROM. I KNOW IT'S A PAGAN RITUAL AND IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DEAD AND "LOST SOULS" BUT REALLY, IS IT ALL NONSENSE?
....DID YOU EVER HEAR A STRANGE NOISE IN THE NIGHTIME, WONDERED WHAT IT WAS BUT WAS TOO AFRAID TO GET UP AND CHECK IT OUT? OR,DID YOU EVER SEE SOMETHING YOU COULDN'T EXPLAIN? WHAT ABOUT LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW YOU HAVE BUT CAN'T FIND IT....HMMM, WHERE DID IT GO?
...WHY ARE PEOPLE AFRAID OF CEMETARIES AFTER DARK OR CROSS THE ROAD TO AVOID A CERTAIN SCARY LOOKING BUILDING OR HOUSE. UFO"S, THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE, GHOSTSHIPS OR SEA MONSTERS...FACT OR FICTION.....NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE.
...WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE INTO MADNESS AND MAKE THEM DO UNIMAGINAL ACTS OF MAYHEM AND HORROR....I DON'T KNOW ...DO YOU?
...EVERYBODY THAT VENTURES OUT THIS EVENING, BE CAREFUL..BE VERY CAREFUL. WHO KNOWS BUT MAYBE SOME OF YOU WHO DO GO OUT TONIGHT MIGHT FIND THE ANSWERS TO THESE AND OTHER UNEXPLAINABLE QUESTIONS....WHO REALLY KNOWS WHAT IS OUT THERE, WAITING.......FOR YOU?........H A P P Y H A L L O W E E N.......

The only trick or treaters we get here in our retirement village are people who are lost & need directions back to their houses. No candy give aways, The first year we lived here (1997) we did buy candy and had it in a bowl near the front door. Nobody came so that is that! There are Halloween parties and we have been to them in the past. There is also a lot of spooky decorations outside. but nothing compared to what we did in NJ. My whole front porch in Bergenfield was a Bat Cave with skeletons and bats hanging around a blackened cave like place. My front yard was a cemetary with grave stones with corny sayings on them. Like "Here Lies Freddy. Is he really deady?" Count Dracula was there also as well as "Frank In Stein". We would have a costume party at our house and we had a contest for the best costume. The winner got a hand made wooden decoration for their front door. Oh well, those were the good old days. Now the scariest thing I saw today was the nurses dressed up in my cardiologists office. They really got into the spirit. :batman: :spiderman: :rambo:

ONE HALLOWEEN NIGHT, MANY YEARS AGO, I HAD A REHERSAL IN BRUCE ZITTELI'S BASEMENT. BRUCE LIVED ON 20TH STREET BET. 6 & 7 AVE. I LIVED ON 32ND & 4TH AND WOULD WALK BACK AND FORTH EVERYWHERE I WENT. WELL, I DIDN'T GET TWO BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE WHEN I GOT ATTACKED BY THE NEIGHBORHOOD WISE GUYS WITH EGGS,FLOUR, AND PANCAKE SYRUP. I DIDN'T WANT TO GO BACK HOME BECAUSE I KNEW MY PARENTS WOULD NOT LET ME GO BACK OUT, AND I WANTED TO GO AND PLAY MY DRUMS. SO I WALK ALL THE WAY TO BRUCIE'S HOUSE, LOOKING AND SMELLING LIKE A IHOP WITH SNEAKERS. WHEN I GOT THERE,BETTY(BRUCIE'S MOM)PUT ME IN THE SHOWER,GAVE ME PANTS AND A SHIRT TO WEAR AS SHE WASHED AND DRIED MY CLOTHES WHILE I PRACTICED WITH THE BAND. I WENT HOME AFTER PLAYING AND MY MOM AND DAD NEVER KNEW WHAT HAPPENED.
....YES PATSY...THOSE WERE GREAT TIMES. -
GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS

11-1-11 MAKE A WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
...I Wish we were kids again...playing stickball on Sunday after mass...taking the train to Brighton beach....eating in Felix restaurant on a Friday night, after playing with the band at the "Y" on 9th street...
.....I can go on and on...But I won't....I just thank God for all the great friends I have and the memories we made together.... -
Hey Joe, Yeah-Memories---I had a favorite band which was run by the son of the best deli in the neighborhood-Kahlers.His name was Richie Kahler. He even played at my wedding reception. I can remember them trying to kill me one night in the 9th Street YMCA because they played 3 Lindy's in a row and then hit me with a Charleston. They knew I loved to Lindy & Charleston both. I can remember the Cube Steak & Bickfords Restaurants on 9th Street right down from the Y. I can still remember the names of the guys I played stickball with on 12th Street. Jimmie, Tommy & Fonzie Hickey, Blackie Fiorello, Bobby Murphy etc:. Yeah they were the days all right. We had to chip together to buy a spauldine to play stickball and sooner or later someone would hit the ball over or on a roof and we would have to chip in again. The balls cost 29c back then but that was more then anyone of us had! Sometimes we took bottles back to the store for deposit so we would have enough for a ball. The bats of course were old broom handles and they worked just fine. In the summer we would play from dawn to dusk and only come in when our mother's yelled "Come in right now or I will tell your Father when he gets home and you will get it good!" Most of the neighbors liked to watch us play but there was one old P.I.T.A. who would call the cops on us. When we saw them coming we would hide the bats so they would not take them from us. My mother used to help us hide them...

JUDY.. SHE IS ADORABLE.. I AM GOING TO POST ACE WHEN I GET A CHANCE IN HIS 'HUGH HEFNER' COSTUME.. THSES PUPPIES ARE TOO DAMN CUTE!!
HI WARREN...
-
-
Warren...I remember "Chips on the ball"....If you lost it, you had to buy a new one.
...How about straightening out a metal coat hanger and curving one end into a cup to scoop out the balls that went down the sewer -
Joe, as I said before quite often one guy did not have the 29c to buy a new one so we had to chip in. We had a guy named Charlie who was real thin and had long arms. We used him to retrieve the sewer balls. Speaking of sewers, the furthest I ever hit the ball was 2 1/2 sewers. Almost made 3 but not quite.
Judy & Patsy-Hi. If I was a dog & you dressed me up like that I would defenitely bite you GRR GRR! #-o

2 1/2 sewers.....very impressive
