-
Anthony, may God be with you with the eye surgery. I will send some Protestent prayers in your direction.
Joe, Good slide show. I recognized about 75% of the places despite being away from Brooklyn for many years. That florist shop on 5th Ave used to be "Weber-McLoughlin Florist" and it was run by a lady named "Harriet Weber Young".
Having some health problems. Had Ambulances and a fire truck here yesterday AM. Seems like my heart did not appreciate the Catherization they did and the change of Medication. Looks like I am in for further treatment... :pale:
-
OMG, WARREN... I SAID A PRAYER [-oB FOR YOU.
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF..HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A NICE DAY..

Old Goat in FL said:
The only trick or treaters we get here in our retirement village are people who are lost & need directions back to their houses. No candy give aways, The first year we lived here (1997) we did buy candy and had it in a bowl near the front door. Nobody came so that is that! There are Halloween parties and we have been to them in the past. There is also a lot of spooky decorations outside. but nothing compared to what we did in NJ. My whole front porch in Bergenfield was a Bat Cave with skeletons and bats hanging around a blackened cave like place. My front yard was a cemetary with grave stones with corny sayings on them. Like "Here Lies Freddy. Is he really deady?" Count Dracula was there also as well as "Frank In Stein". We would have a costume party at our house and we had a contest for the best costume. The winner got a hand made wooden decoration for their front door. Oh well, those were the good old days. Now the scariest thing I saw today was the nurses dressed up in my cardiologists office. They really got into the spirit. :batman: :spiderman: :rambo:OMG Warren my cousin and I are reading your post and you made us laugh so much. We really needed depends reading this. Hope u r feeling better. If you need anything I am here in florida. call me 917 499 1912 ..OMG this was just too funny. My cousin said you are really funny...

I guess it is my heart acting up but I got in a real nostalgic mood last night and started thinking about growing up in the slope. Here are some of my memories done quickly without a lot of explanation:
Memories: 5th Ave-Germains, Palace Meat Market, Ginsbergs, Foremans Hardware, Ables Children Furniture & Carriages, Gramms Fish Market Murphys bar, Michaels & Co, Whelan Drugs, Thom McCann Shoes, Post Jewlers, Vims, Kahlers Deli Eddie Peppers Meats, Optometrist Store with huge glasses over the entrance, Loftus Bar, Trunz Pork & Cold Cuts,Kresgees,Oneils Cards,Belmonts, Woolworths, Neergards, Greater NY Savings Bank, Ice Cream Parlor, Tiny Hamburger Joint, News Stand 9th & 5th, Chinese Restaurant Upstairs 5th & 9th,
9th St- Prospect Park YMCA, Bickfords, Cube Steak, RKO Prospect, Avon, Public Library, Lincoln Bank, K of C, Trollies.
Close By- Sanders, Globe, Minerva & 16th St Movie Theaters. Sunset Park & Pool, Red Hook Pool, Prospect Park, Ebbetts Field, Park Circle
Churches- 12th Street Reformed, Holy Family R.C., Free Methodist, St Thomas Acquinos R.C.
If you could not find it in the neighborhood you went Downtown Brooklyn to Namm's, Loesers, A&S , Mays
or Theaters like The Brooklyn Paramount, Fabians Fox, RKO Albee, Lowes MelbaJump on the Trolley or Subway and go to Coney Island where you found the beach, Steeplechase, Luna Park, Parachute Jump, Cyclone, Wonder Wheel, Nathan's etc;.
If you had no money in your pocket you always had your friends on the block and you could find something to do that did not cost a dime Stick Ball, Ringo Leeveo, Hide & Seek, Box Ball, Triangle,Off The Point, Kick The Can or just hang out together.
Thank God I still have my memories....

Good Morning everyone.....
...Here is Today's News, However Good and/or Bad it may Sound. A story I first heard about on Saturday, but has been played down and under reported, and made me start to think and look into it a little more. I went to various sites on the PC to try and find out more, and this is what I came up with.
...An Asteroid, name yu55,and about the size of a Modern Day Aircraft Carrier or about 1,300 wide, will pass between the Earth and the Moon on Tuesday, Nov.8th,2011...YES,That's Right...Tomorrow. The Moon is about 250,000 miles away from earth, and this asteroid is expected to pass the earth at approximately 200,000 miles or so.
...Now don't get crazy and do anything stupid( like spend all of your money on wine, drugs or fast women or men for that matter) because NASA says "there is nothing to worry about".....Great to hear that bit of good news.......
.............But.................
...suppose somebody miscalculated, and they are off by a degree or 2...do you think they would tell us, ooops we made a mistake, and "everybody get your Turkeys early this year" .... I Don't Think So....But ,anyway, I do believe in NASA and their scientist and engineers , and really don't think there is any reason to sweat this.....but just in case, I have painted a BIG RED BULLSEYE on my roof with the words...PLEASE LAND HERE....LOL
....Below is a photo of yu55....Enjoy
