It's still funny. And it only gets better with age. -
You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, waking up every morning with your cynical views.
This post has become too incestial. You read too much into these posts. This isn't a philosophical debate. It's about a fuckin coffee house for your caffeine addicted Asses.
Were your childhoods tarnished with parental neglect? Maybe your posts should be directed to a psych-site.
Don't hate the player hate the game.
Just blame Ratner. I'm sure he's behind it.
Long live Ratner and his gated community -
You've really got to chill out. I've given you an amazing amount of slack on this board, allowing you to stay anonymous when every other regular poster on this board is mature enough to commit to an identity (even RichBlackGirl!).
You're using your freedom to run around randomly and insult people, and I'm not enjoying it. -
Anonymous wrote: This post has become too incestial.
Incestial isn't a word. The adjective for when you fucked your Mom is incestuous. The adjective for when we all fucked her is just GROSS. She is a total skank, by the way. -
thanks for the english lesson there, professor.
I can see you've had issues with your mama.
try a blow-up doll, they typically don't ask you if you've brushed before you muffed -
Alright, that's officially it!
Stop it with the mom fucking shit, I can match your ip so posting as a guest isn't going to do anything.
Anonymous G... let's go back to being the bigger man. it's getting a bit out of control. You gave as good as you got, but you should stop now.
It's a serious drag watching you guys beat each other off on a message board, so hey...take a hint. -
So... How about that Heights Coffee place?
I hear the atmosphere and service are delightful as long as you don't rush your order.

People of Prospect Heights, can ya please take a deep breath. It's just a fucking coffee house. It's a nice place with good coffee, friendly staff and plenty of a.c to go round. Enjoy it for what it is. A quality coffee house right in your back yard -
I went there (I think) the other day on a Flatbush Ave stroll. The girls at the counter were really nice and they make a good smoothee!
-
Another on-location post. I'm killing my Sunday afternoon here with an iced latte (good, but not as good as Half's... the power was out at Half, so the machine wasn't working). Heights is packed - nearly every seat filled. Good atmosphere, AC.
Two problems to fix. A) Flies. I'm sitting near the front and there are a handful of persistent little bastards banging around the windows.
The door. There's no spring or lever to draw it closed after people pass through... and 20% of the folks who walk through the door just leave it open behind them. (Yeah, I'm that guy - getting up from my comfy seat every two minutes to shut the damn door. Arg!)
And yeah, the music (slow jams from 1999) could benefit from an adjustment. -
Just a note about Lorena's...when I was on my way back home from Gorilla (ironically enough) with my son a couple of months ago, we asked to use the bathroom at Lorena's. The two guys behind the counter looked at each other and pointed us to the back, where we found a very dirty bathroom with NO SOAP. While I'm sure that most of us hear our moms' voices in our heads reminding to wash our hands every time, it's not possible if there's no soap. We scrubbed when we got home, but NO SOAP MEANS THE STAFF WEREN'T WASHING THEIR HANDS.
 -
Mmmm pee-flavored espresso.

what's the story with muddy waters?

Check this thread and several others on this board. It's infamous. -
Subject: tunes
I totally agree with the person who mentioned how bad the music is here. I'm here now, and yeah, the music may be innocuous, but it doesn't create a pleasant ambiance. It's like Lilith Fair reject tunes, complete with more moaning and wailing than you can shake a soy cappuccino at. But I guess this endless estrogen-laden misery is easy enough to ignore if you're trying to concentrate on something else.
And there are many good aspects to the place, no doubt. -
Subject: Music
Heather M,
Not quite sure what tread you're referring to but I was at the coffee lounge today too and I think the music selection is just fine b/c I am not here for the misic. But I am just curious. What type of music would you like them to play? -

That just doesn't make any sense.
When I was there they were playing some truly terrible contemporary R & B. Nauseating tuneless-crooner stuff. Why are you making me relive this, lovemynabe2? You're giving me PTSD!     :x -

I've been there a number of times and most people I've spoken with like the music. No, it isn't "world lounge" or a heavy dose of "classical genre's" but then again if that is what your looking for you can always ride an elevator in a nice high rise or go to J.C Penny. A community cafe with a desire to be diffrent while setting a comfortable enviorment for everyone. It's a good look.

LOL.
[sarcasm]Gee, that doesn't sound scripted at all. I'm going to run my ass there right now for a delicious vanilla latte, smooth R&B jams and an eclectic, vibrant atmosphere. Yeah! [/sarcasm] 8) -
Come on, give tyboogie the benefit of the doubt here. I think it's a perfectly reasonable response. It's a comfortable hang-out spot, and while the music isn't my cup of tea, it's not terrible.

Hey don't get me wrong, I was there yesterday, sucking down iced vanilla lattes. They're good. I just don't really enjoy hanging out there or really any coffee house in PH so far. But, if any place, I'd go there. -

Terrible! :x -
I haven't had any problems with the music, and I enjoy the coffee and the staff. In general, I am pretty excited about the place, although I am moving further away. Anyway, I think they have done a nice job and it is the first coffee place I have found with a decent cup on the Prospect Heights side of flatbush.

I have brought two friends from out of town it there specifically to try the muffins and both said they were the best muffins they'd ever had. My friend Catherine went so gag for them we had to go back three times during her two day visist.
The real deal is the one dollar day old baked goods basket. That's where the magic is at. -
I moved from DC to Prospect Heights 3 months ago but hardly done any shopping in the area until last weekend. Went to Heights Coffee and felt really, really good about the place, their coffee and the atmosphere. I will be checking other places, but for now, this is the spot.
I have read the Heights thread and saw nothing unusual about the comments, except carnivore who seemed to have a definite bias. -

I'll stop being "biased" when one of you pro-Heights Coffee posters registers or at least posts something somewhere about something other than Heights Coffee. Otherwise, I guess the main thing I should take away from all these recommendations is that Heights Coffee really appeals to people who have absolutely no interest in anything other than Heights Coffee!

It does seem that the Heights is appealing to folks newer to the area. But I have posted several times on different topics, so your worries can be put to rest!
I move today down to Dean Street though, and will check out the recommended coffee place on the corner of Dean and Vanderbilt. I passed by yesterday and would not have noticed it if the folks on this board hadn't pointed it out. -
Right on, Carni, my sentiments exactly. I think this place recreates the Starbucks experience, with slightly better coffee and ultra lousy pastries. Atmosphere is corporate design coffee shop. I'll continue to get my {deliciously strong} caffiene fix at Le Gamin in PH or Gorilla in PS.

I'll like them when they start serving nut milk, god dammit!
