Those are the WORST!
Last week they ate the shit outta my left arm since it was my only limb not beneath my comforter. I had 6 or 7 red welts from my bicep down to my wrist that are just now about healed. They itched like hell too, even though the squeeters didn't seem to be drawing much blood. NYC mosquitos worry me... who knows what else they've sucked on. -
They are like welts aren't they? I scratched 2 of them so bad they were bleeding

Subject: Mosquito plague continues...
I endured the December Mosquitoes. I didn't complain much. I found solace reading this blog and knowing others could relate. As the weather got colder they disappeared from my apartment and my mind.
Seven months and a very rainy week later my apartment is overrun by the buggers. I want them out!!! But how??? Any tips??? -
a mosquito was all over my cat this morning!!!!!!!!!!

You know where I keep getting eaten alive? The Franklin Avenue shuttle platform. There must be some standing water somewhere near there, because I'm getting completely chomped every day when I wait for the train there.

i feel like it's about time fore some absurd comment like::: "the reason this is happening in PH is that PS residents complained, the problem was taken care of over there, and now the mosquito monsters have no place to go other than PH".

sweet jesus. I mean, sweet feet. my feet are all bitten after having dinner in the franny's garden. so annoying. they were super nice, tho, and let us move inside once the problem became .. problematic.

They just showed up in our bedroom this week. They attacked my hands and went for the boyfriend's feet. I'm convinced that the little jerks stowed away in our bags when we went camping a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

FWIW, here's the steps we have gone through to fight the mosquitos and no-see'ums in our apartment, which mainly seem to congregate in our bedroom. I'm sure some of this is urban legend, but the overall effect (knock on wood) has been positive (maybe one bite every couple nights):
1. Turned on AC in the bedroom as soon as we got home. Down to 68 or 70.
2. Sprayed the comforter and sheets with OFF. (Not right before bed; give it time to soak in and so you're not inhaling it. Couple hours or so.) We only did this once 3 weeks ago -- not every night.
3. This might sound crazy, but I read on several other boards that Bounce dryer sheets keep them away -- something about the smell -- so I have hung these on the walls, the nightstand and by the windows.
4. Hung those sticky bug-attracting tapes all over the place.
5. Been taking Vitamin B complex every night. (Supposedly makes your blood unappealing to them.)
6. Picked up a "Nosquito" machine. I got mine at the J&R near Wall Street.

7. Burned vanilla scented candles.
8. Turn on a fan at high speed near the bed.
And when you do get bites, there is something called "Afterbite" a roll on stick -- that is the most effective thing I've found in stopping the itching. -
Thank you everyone for replying. I felt like I was going crazy. No, my imaginary dog doesn’t have fleas. I have f-ing mosquitoes!
The thought of putting on bug spray before getting in bed disgusts me. I hung fly ribbon because I had no idea what to do and it felt proactive. The air delights sounds fantastic, I need to get me one. Why vanilla? Why not citronella?
Does anyone think it’s caused by the demolition for the stadium? Rainwater’s sitting therefore mosquitoes are breeding??? Any thoughts?
