Yankees Pitching Rotation Predictions

I am not sure if i like this move or not.
Clearly, he is the best option available and he is a marquee pitcher, defenitely top 5 all time arguably the best.
The money i dont mind, its G$'s money so its his to spend whichever way he wants. He pays 7-8mio on luxury tax on top of that which in turn the owners of the "poor" teams will pocket to fund their private jet fleet.
However, even with Clemens I dont see this team being strong enough to win the World Series.
And I would have rather seem them use the young guns during the season.
He will be a great mentor to the fleet of young arms that are coming through, a guy like Hughes can learn a lot from Clemens.
The last few games (friday excluded) have shown that there is some bite yet in that rotation. Igawa and Pavano are a bust, i am sure of that now, but the rest is solid and with a gem every now and then from one of the rookies i think it will be a great summer in the bronx.
The Red Sox and their fans have lost all right to bitch about salary when throwing 20mil a year at a pitcher who hasnt thrown a pitch in the Majors.
Just because you are only the second biggest bully in school doesnt give you the right to speak up for all the nerds the biggest bully is beating up. -
Dice doesn't cost $20 million a year. I believe he is getting about $8 million a year. Sure they spent $51 million to get the rights to negotiate with him, but the Yankees were second with their bid, so again the Red Sox are just doing what they can to negate the Yankees free-spending capitalist ways. The Red Sox aren't the second biggest bully, I believe that would go to the other NY team, The Mets and then possibly the Dodgers.
Besides, The Yankees are a $200 million+ bully, the Red Sox are only a $120 million bully. There is quite a difference.
And yes, the Red Sox do represent all that is good and the Yankees all that is evil.
From Gothamist: don't you know about the signing bonuses the yankees give to hot prospects to join their farm system? yes, that's right, they buy out the prospects to keep them from joining other teams as well. the yankees have helped to ruin baseball from the minors on up. and they didn't keep winning those world series just because of those farm products. they were still outspending everyone else in order to have the best veterans as well.
Lame. -

Wow. Lovely to see you, elitism. What brings you to our board?
You know what? You're right. That nice, salt of the earth fella in Maine that asked my buddy to take off his Yankee jacket, while in line at a Banana Republic, is a godsend. And the beer guy at Fenway that wouldn't sell to one of our fellow posters on this board, because a NY drivers lic is not proper ID, is just a lovely human being. And who could say a bad thing about those that the Berklee College of Music refers to when they send e-mails to their students asking them not to wear Yankee paraphernalia while in Boston, fearing for their security. That's just the school being paranoid. I mean, whoever heard of intolerant Red Sox fans? Certainly not in Boston. Right, Roxbury? Sure, they root for the last team to have a black player, 12 years after the Majors were intergrated, but they are good people. Those other folks just didn't belong then.
And anyway, Yankee fans are pussies for not dishing out the above treatment to Red Sox fans here, right? -
A dollar spent is dollar spent. Under the current 6 year contract it costs the Sox $17mil a year. Granted its not 20 but its still a lot.
If its contract or negotiating rights money is just semantics.
No one forces the poor sox and their poor owner to spent that money.
After all we have seen that ever since the Yankees payroll has spiraled out of control their sucess has been little to nothing. -
Let's see. Last time I was at Skankee Stadium the fat assed lowlifes were yelling derogatory remarks at women who were wearing Red Sox attire. Stuff like "BITCH!" "PUSSY" etc. and they were only two rows away.
The Yankees and their fans are classless morons. As for Elitism? Yes, I am better than you, but besides that it is the Yankees who have engaged in elitism for decades!
Give it up. The Yankees have ruined baseball for all but a few. Let's go KC ROYALS! -
Such a ridiculous argument to say the Yanks have ruined baseball. Absolutely ridiculous. Also, the BoSox are not a $120 mil team, try more like $144 mil. Let's see; Manny makes $17 mil, Drew makes 14.4, Ortiz 13.5, and Schilling 13.3. Four players = 57 mil. Your point is moot when you bring up K.C. Plus, the cheapest, the cheapest seats in the ballpark start at like $24 or something. Not at all fair. At the stadium in the Bronx, you can still get a game in for $10.
Anyway, the rookie DeSalvo is throwing a gem tonight and doing a pretty good job.
Maybe if KC fans showed up more and their team spent the money on players they'd be better. I don't know, but bitching about how much the Yanks spend is futile. If other teams had the same market and sold out games pratically every time they played, they would be pulling for the same guys we do. -
Shit! I was at the Saturday game and was soooooo happy to see Wang back to being Wang!
-
Yes, drunken yahoos carrying on at the Stadium is EXACTLY the same thing as being harrassed at a department store, a Fenway employee capriciously not doing their job out of spite, and the general safety of people on the street threatened by moronic, overzealous mooks. What was I thinking?
-
So, Yankee fans, are you or aren't you for a salary cap in baseball?
-
Isn't luxury tax basically a salry cap with a different name? Hey man, MLB makes is a free market economy, as does the player's union. Go shit on them, not an individual team, please.
-
Luxury tax is a joke. So what if the Yankees have to pay a $45 million luxury tax? They just raise the cost of tickets, concessions and cable.
Yeah, you are right, MLB is a free market economy and the Yankees are the bloated capitalist pigs of MLB.
I shit on them because they represent the ugly side of captialism. In 2006 the Yankees payroll was $74 million higher then the second highest payroll.
Yeah they didn't win it all, which means there is some justice in this world, but still doesn't excuse their actions. -
Yeah lifes unfair.
The richt guys get the hot girls, the rich companys pay the big salaries, the rich teams get the best players.
Like it or lump it, you can always watch Basketball. -
Hockey - fair
Basketball - fair
Football - fair
baseball - unfair
Yankee fans justification of this - ridiculous. -
Yep unfair.
Now can we drop it? -
I bet Dice ($16.5 million per year) will win more games for the Red Sox than Clemens and Iggy combined!
-
I bet that I don't give a shit about Dice-K. And Igawa is already in the minors, so your point is?
-
Red Sox May 10 - seven games up. 'nuff said.

"May 10" being the key words... nuff said. -
Speaking of 10, the Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 games. I'll take those numbers all year long.
Welcome aboard, BK! -

Me too. And now that Moose is healthy and no one's pretending that Igawa or Pavano are going to be assets (or anything at all, actually), I think the pitching is getting back on track. Of course, I probably just jinxed it, but...Welcome aboard, BK!
thanks! -
Pitching is doing well lately, problem is, hitting is in a funk now.
-
Yeah, but it'll even itself out. Hopefully sooner than later.
-
Red Sox May 13 - eight games up.
-
It's gonna take more than that hayseed Clemens to right this ship.
See, now that it's warm enough for A-Rod to oil himself up and hang out in the park his bat will cool off.
Johnny Damon admitted defeat the other day and said he wishes he was back with his old team.
Professional mascot Don Zimmer to be reacquired in an attempt to boost morale.
Steinbrenner is trying to reach Billy Martin via a Ouija board, but so far only Dick Howser is tuning in.
Troubles, troubles... -
Trouble does seem to loom for the boys in pinstripes, but they have pulled out of all of this shit before and our pitching is really on track these days, as noted above. I'm worried about stagnant bats, but not that worried.
So, we'll see how we are doing by All-Star Break. I'm sure this team is gonna be fine. Clemens might or might not be that added boost to morale, but I swear they aren't gonna go down without a fight.
The Red Sox have led at the beginning of seasons plenty of times and crumble! Straight up crumble in the stretch. Their history rarely holds up to much.
It's less than 40 games in........
And Damon didn't say he wished he were back with his team, he just acknowledged they won a surprising game.......just as we have many a time in the 9th inning.
Anyone remember the Rangers game last year? -
Except this year the Red SOx are going to make sure the Yankees are at least 10 games back by then.
-
I'd be happy to put money down against that happening.
-
Let's see after next Wednesday. Anyone going to any of the games?
-
Looks like A-Rod is back to his old self. Wait until he starts with the errors.
Howdy, Stranger!
