WOW...Justified racism. Impressive statistics (i.e ask any cop). Parkslope95 if you are taking advice from a cop you must be an idiot. I bet your redneck-bravura makes you feel controversial, and occasionally gives you a chance to assert yourself at a dinner party. I bet your redneckedness helps to compensate for your compounding personal inadequecies and disappointments. You must be a number of peoples "crazy" friend. You crazy racist. -
Subject: parkslope95 who?
Don't fall into parkslope95's trap. The guy's obviously a big douche, and should just continue to live his life that way, unnoticed, as he's certainly use to. Fucking forums... gives LOSERS seconds of notice for nothing. Let his mother continue to be the only one who cares. -

You're 100% correct. All the media shrews who want to snicker at your comments will secretly nod in agreement and feel guilty about it. Oh, and did I mention that they'll take your advice and AVOID the place too?
We all know it's true.
Let me spell it out for you: only an idiot or someone looking for trouble would knowingly go to a place that has a reputation for accomodating thuggish behavior, regardless of what color these thugs are. Got that?
Do you really think someone who's got their act together and/or has experienced more than just the residual racism of this neighborhood is gonna feel guilty over calling out subjective and blatantly racist remarks like ParkSlope95's? Please tell me you're a little brighter than that, at least.
These racist mooks, I tell ya...where are they when white cops kick the living crap, or worse yet, shoot dozens of bullets into innocent black or brown people? What's that? They deserved it? Right... -

Could you hipster douchebags be more racist? -
Subject: I haven't been in a while, but...
I used to DJ at Royale on Friday Nights, and the crowd was usually a mix of hipsters and people more into hip-hop. (I wouldn't use the term ghetto to describe them). The latter people were black, white & latino/hispanic, and they were usually the ones to get the dance party started, even if I was spinning indie dance rock or whatever. Then the hipsters would join in. It never seemed like there was any tension to me, but maybe I was too busy spinning records to notice.
On another note, some of the old bartenders and DJ's from Royale now work at Bar 4 on 7th Ave. & 15th St. And I've seen a lot of customers from Royale there too. -
I think we're all missing the point, that a douchebag is a douchebag, whether they be a hipster quasi-racist or a wanna-be thug.
I'm not fond of the bar, or its new clientele. Not because they're a different color, but because the new mngmt has gone out of its way to appeal to the L.C.D., in some vague sort of "keeping it real" bullshit.
So yeah, Parkslope95 could have said his piece with a little more thought, though.
I think we're all giving this Doucheteria more free press than it needs. Maybe a separate thread on racism and coded racist speak? -
Subject: Ugh
ParkSlope95, I'm not sure what makes you more cringeworthy, the fact that you're so baldly scared of black people, or the fact that you're the type of person who seriously says things like "listening to progressive, modern rock" and "groovy." Do all of Park Slope a favor: Next time, stay home, clutch your limp weiner by yourself and listen to your Killers album in peace. That way me and my girls won't have the misfortune of running into you at Buttermilk or that apparent deathtrap Royale. -

Um, here comes my music geekitude: "progressive" and "modern" rock are two different things. Sorry, but progressive, modern rock...what is that? Can I order a side dish with it?
You have a problem with "groovy"? Word?
And yeah, I agree: The Killers is for limp weinered individuals and the women who love them.
Oh, and when do you and your girls stop by the 'Milk, Kelly? 'Cause it could sure use some more ladies during the week. Damn sausage party... -
Subject: Gentrification is AWESOME!!
Newsflash--Brooklyn (even Park Slope, where I grew up) used to be inhabited by people of color (not just brown visitors who commute daily to raise lazy white women's children). If Park Slope 2007 is too integrated for you, you might just want to move to Howard Beach for a year or two. By then, all of you pasty, emaciated, indie-rock listening, PBR-drinking, I'm-an-artist-with-a-trust-fund-shhhhh.... assholes will have gentrified the entire fucking borough. Keep hope alive!! -
Michaelkeyes,
What bars in NYC have a reputation for hosting WHITE thugs? I can't think of one.
Look, you can be delusional if it makes you feel warm inside and superior, but we don't need to pour over statistics until our eyes glaze over to know who causes the trouble.
Get real. -
gawker see, gawker do. this is why posters should be registered.

This is why people make fun of Park Slope.

And you're calling me delusional? Hahahahahaha. Dude, you crack me up! OK, I won't even get into the Mob bars or the Westies bars or the Hell's Angels/biker bars, etc. but I'll stick to Park Slope and tell you that there are currently two on 5th Ave, that may not necessarily "host" these dudes but are frequented by them. If you read one of my previous entries you'll see that I used to DJ at one that is no longer around and there are two more within blocks of each other in the North Slope. You want names? C'mon, don't play dumb, if you are from the neighborhood you know EXACTLY which ones they are. Ask around, and you'll hear the same tune, because like the new Royale, they're the bars that people don't feel safe in, regardless of their own color.

So, are you telling me that the trouble caused in the bars in this neighborhood that RARELY have people of color in them--which are the overwhelming majority--are caused by black or brown people? That occasional black or brown person that goes into Great Lakes, Commonwealth or Buttermilk is the one that starts the problems, right? It's all dandy until they show up, correct? Of course not and you know it, so get your head out of the sand. It's an attitude/behavior thing not a color thing. What this means is that NO ONE HAS THE IDIOT/THUG MARKET CORNERED.
I can't speak about other 'hoods/cities, etc. but I know mine and know that bars that attract idiots get idiots of all colors and those that don't, get mostly cool people of every hue. But that's just me feeling all "warm...and superior": we both know it's all about black and brown people fuckin' up, right?

Please consider Rachel's suggestion of perusing real estate in Howard Beach. -

An interested party. A casual observer. A white person who is constantly amazing by the blase racism of my fellow man. Someone who enjoys a good laugh at you people's expense. A person who can't help but 1) roll her eyes 2) groan and 3) Barely suppress a laugh when hipsters complain about their favorite night spots being overrun with the people that used to live in the neighborhood before they got priced out of it by the very people who are complaining.sally wrote: Please consider Rachel's suggestion of perusing real estate in Howard Beach.

OK...list of things douchy PSers hate about Park Slope: children who play in the park, parents who let them, hipsters, bars, black people who don't work for them, people who make noise, people who smoke, people who think it's unfair to pay for wifi, people who don't realize that sometimes the payment for FREE wifi is sitting around breastfeeding moms and their spawn, parents who don't apologize "enough", the term MILF, dogs who have diarrhea, people who don't have jobs outside of the home, people who own, people who rent, new people, the old people who won't renovate their now-pricey townhouses to the likings of the neighbors, the people who were there when park slope was a "mess" and feel more entitled than the others.....the list is just fucking endless. I'm baffled more people don't complain about Atlantic yards and the influx of big box stores, like Whole Foods.

First of all, how dare you call anyone a bimbo? Just because they are attractive, doesn't mean they are dumb. The new bartenders (and owner) have always been very nice. They even chat me up on a crowded Saturday night. You are just bitter that you lost your job. Boohoo. Grew some balls.erskelyne wrote:

Drano wrote: Did the Gawker sh33p arrive yet?
Um, I think some of the bigger shit-stirrers in this thread quite likely did come from Gawker, or else they might have enough of a clue not to make assumptions about people who have been using this site for some time now based on a fairly racist original post by someone who's an unregistered guest poster.
New folks: Please don't think everyone on this site is like ParkSlope95, who isn't a regular here and who, in fact, made his or her first appearance on this board by starting this very discussion. If you're interested in the neighborhoods covered by the board and want to sign up and join in, we'd love to have you. If you're going to be a twit, though, don't let the door hit you where the Lord split you.
Regulars: This is a bit much for any of the mods to try to sort out and y'all seem to be doing VERY well in responding to this silliness, so I'm just going to suggest that perhaps we should ignore stupid things said by people who are obviously first-time visitors. If it gets too out of control, we may have to lock the thread.
Fair enough? -

Best of luck to all of you, who have, for some unfathomable reason, chosen to reside in an area surrounded by people who absolutely cannot stomach any of you. Strollers, shrieking stupidity on cellphones & that overall air of entitlement. . .just who the &/+) do you think you are?!?. Cop that attitude in any part of "real" Brooklyn (that is, whatever of it is actually left), & you'll see just how long you'll be able to keep your nose stuck up in the air. What you have to remember, of course, is that you need us to snub & look down upon. So glad we could be of service to you & your partners in idiocy. -

Yeah, the Gawker sheep seem to be out here in full force. Whatever. They'll be around for a little bit and then go back to stalking Lindsey Lohan or whomever. -
wait. there's this written on gawker
is this true?
momo says:
Haven't been there since August, and the mix was 45% African-American, 45% Ancient-Italians, and 10% fagtard (my friends and me). All were having fun. Granted this was around six to eight on a Sunday.
Unrelatedly, my lady-friend said it was very easy to score coke there.

is it really very easy to score coke in the slope?
will someone answer me?! -
