  • SevenOneEighty,

You are correct. The street names for Lincoln, St. Johns, and Sterling Place were once Douglass, McGraw, and Butler. The maps change around 1917 or so, I believe. I found no documents explaining these changes.
  • Well, I'm sticking to my original statement which is that as long as I've been here, it's been called PH. On the other side of Washington was def considered Crown Hts, but back in the 80s when I was going to HS, my zoned high school was "Prospect Heights HS" on Washington (didn't go there, but that's what it was called). I just pulled up an article in the NYTimes from 1996 that refers to Vanderbilt as Prospect Hts.
  • Jack Krohn wrote: If Crown Heights begins at Washington, then why is the high school on the corner of Classon called Prospect Heights H.S.? Someone had better call the city and tell them to scale the building and chisel in the correct name.
I found this article about Prospect Heights High School. It says that it is in Crown Heights.
