  • Joseph's on 7th Avenue, not far from Union. They charged me 24 bucks for a haircut only. It took less than 20 minutes... I have shoulder length curly hair.
  • Subject: christine at elements

    hi-

i just got a *great* cut by christine at elements (5th ave/3rd street).

i was afraid to go to someone without a rec, but she turned out to be fantastic- she listened to me about keeping my length, but also added some layers that really helped out my overall style.

i will definitely be going back! and it was only $40 for a cut & style.
  • Where is Pomona exactly? Thanks!

Pomona is on 7th ave btw 15/16 I think.

Funny that this thread came back to the surface again, just four weeks after I got a terrible haircut from Laurie at Pomona. Bad. My hair looked better going in than it looked coming out, 65 dollars and half an hour later. I won't be going back to Laurie again.

Perhaps she is only good at bobs? I asked for a layered shag cut, and got a mess that looks like it was only cut (chopped is more apt) on one side. I have a blunt cut on one side, and a "flap" of shorter hair on the other side. F**k.
  • Lori had done a good job with my cuts, but my highlights came out not at all what I was expecting. I was very specific in wanting a natural look, very close to my natural base color, with as little "grow line" as possible. Not what I got.....she did offer to tone it down, but by then I didn't want to mess with it.

Now Dana is doing both my color and cuts and I'm happy with both....and she's really affordable.
  • Subject: another ref for haircut

u guys can also try Georges it is around the corner from connecticut muffin on 15th/16th st and prospect park west. the cost is 15/- and the 2 russian ladies are reasonably good- the really good one is long gone though- another cheap haircut place is across from john jay school on 7th ave- its 15 bucks
  • Anything closer to Prospect Heights? I do need highlights and a "trim". I'm hoping to find someone to cut the style the same that I've got now.

*My previous hairsylist was in LES and she was great. Awesome highlights and she would check the cut after the blow-out. She has now moved to CT to the married suburban life... the baby is due in the spring. Totally going to miss her!*
  • I just got back from Delilah Salon down on 4th ave (near union) and Leila, the owner, did a phenominal job on my hair- I got a completely new cut (went from shoulder length mop curly frizzy mess hair to a short, above the ear almost bob) and it was $35. She was also super friendly and the salon was quiet and calm. I will DEFINATELY go back!
  • $40 at Hair by Michael on 7th. Diane cut my hair from very long to a short inverted bob. Thumbs up.
  • I've gotten TONS of compliments on my haircut by Leila at Delilahs since I got it done on friday (even from strangers!) Go check her out! $35!!
