ack. I could barely get through it. Not sure why. I had high hopes -
I liked it. I like Bruges.

Just got done watching Twilight.

That movie was awesome.
Honestly , even if it would have sucked I would have still sat through it. The guy that plays the lead is so.fuckin.beautiful. I couldn't stop staring at him.OMG , his eyes.
I'm in love.
-
^-- Yeah, my wife & I watched it last week. It was actually pretty good, I'm embarrassed to say. I can see why every 13 year old girl loves that movie.
My wife made it clear that she was ready to leave me for that guy. -
Meh. I don't think he's that hot. A friend is accent coaching him on another project and says he is in love- and he's 46!
Just saw Eastern Promises. Sooooo good. Viggo tats and naked? Yes please! -
Viggo = super yummy
Watched "Style Wars" on Saturday - about grafitti and hip-hop in the 80s. It was okay...but it was fun to see the city how I remember it...nice and sleazy -
The IT Crowd.
Great British comedy series if you enjoy things like boingboing and have math or computer friends. The bf and I could not stop laughing. And make sure to watch the extras, esp. the Praemus (sp?) short. -
Just saw Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist streaming on Netflix. It was pretty much exactly like you'd expect it to be, but the best possible version of that. I liked it a lot.
-
That's another "young peoples" movie that I liked.
I saw "Bottle Shock", it was a little dull. -
scary movie - the strangers...watch it in silence with all lights out....awesome

Ha! We just watched that last night. It was creepy.
We were scared. My FBFF and I held each other.
-
Just watched "The Proposal". It was funny! I liked it a lot.
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds were awesome in that movie.

My list is getting SUPER short. Any new ideas?
Also, any ideas for a series marathon? I did The Wire last year (loved it) and started watching Rescue Me.
HALP! -
We just started the second season of the Wire--it's a good one. Some other good dvd's we've rented lately and old favorites that you may not have seen yet.
Synecdoche, NY (Charlie Kaufman movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman)
Sunny in Philadelphia (tv series I've mentioned before--Danny Devito is in later seasons and hilarious)
House (tv series with lots of seasons)
This Film is Not Yet Rated (we almost returned this one without watching it but I'm so glad we didn't. It was really interesting.)
Arrested Development
Coupling -
^ thanks...
I put Arrested Development in queue already.
Saw Coupling, and LOVED The Wire (2nd season was one of my favorites).
I'll take a look at the others -
I have never been as sad about a show being canceled as Arrested Development. And the episode(s) with Chalize Theron will make you like her if you don't already, the way you can't not like Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock.
-
Oh, I finally did a whole 30 Rock marathon (it's on instant Netflix) and am caught up to regular season. I tend to think he's a dick in real life (and I wish people gave him NEARLY as much shit about his bloat as they did about female stars), but I think he's very good in his 30 Rock role.
Aren't they going to make an AD movie? -

Hung

Nurse Jackie
The next season will be the last for Rescue Me. I came in 3 seasons ago and need to start from the beginning. This last was the longest, 22 or 23 episodes or something like that, and was a little drawn out in parts. The finale was great though. -
^thanks, but neither Hung nor Nurse Jackie are out on DVD yet.

Flexichick wrote: Oh, and if anybody hasn't seen Rudo y Cursi , it was definitely good for a few laughs...but the highlight of the whole movie was Gael Garcia Bernal doing this:
I love Gael, but will this lessen my love for him? It looks really silly (this coming from someone who adore Reno 911). -
^see it! I love Gael and Diego together - they are good friends in real life. I thought it was funny.....definitely a light movie.

If you liked The Wire, you'd probably enjoy the 90's cop show Homicide: Life on the Street. Was written and produced by some of the same people that went on to do The Wire (and Oz, the HBO prison drama, before it). Very, very well written and acted ensemble poilce show... particularly Andre Braugher, who over the course of the enitre series is so good it hurts. He finally left the show after season 6 (or 5?) and the show definitely suffered without him in its final two seasons.
Also, any ideas for a series marathon? I did The Wire last year (loved it) and started watching Rescue Me.

^thanks. I might check that out. Was that network or cable? I tend to gravitate towards cable shows more because I find them more realistic (and I fucking curse a lot...LOL)

On Demand. -

On Demand.
Not for me - I canceled SHO and HBO -

Network, but it was almost 15 years ago, so don't hold it to the current terrible network television quality standards. Well worth a few season DVD rentals. -
Stranger Than Fiction. I saw part of this on a plane years ago and loved what I saw and added to my queue to see the whole thing-loved it.
Another movie where Will Ferrel isn't a goof is Winter Passing. Kind of odd, but his character was very memorable.
Coraline was excellent.
Little Otik. Maybe not for you, Flexi, but for those that like kind of sci-fi/adult fairy tales (scary tales!) this one is good.
Beautiful Girls. Haven't seen this one in many years, but my memories of it are fond.
Howdy, Stranger!
