  • Going, going, almost gone. Quite sad, my wife and I were original regulars in 2004 and practically lived there the first two years (until children). Still go sporadically, but, more important, met some of my best friends there over the years, including Delissa and Elia. That place became our the social circle we revolved around for more than a few years, had some of my best times there. At least I still have those friends.
  • Online petition to support Bar Sepia: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-bar-sepia-protect-neighborhood-small-business "Thus far, we've been approved for a mortgage and are now in a position to make a credible offer. Bottom line, we want a seat at the table to negotiate with the owner and your signature will help us get there."
  • Any news on the bar's efforts to buy the building?
  • Nope. The seller reportedly has a buyer in contract that would like the building delivered vacant. So, Bar Sepia would likely have to pay the prospective buyer enough to "walk away" and the seller more than the buyer was offering.
  • quote: "To Our Customers, Supporters and Dear Friends: Firstly, thank you for all the love and support since the announcement of our closing. We are truly touched by your comments and appreciate your generous donations. Unfortunately, after February 28th Bar Sepia will end operations and our lease will expire at the end of April. As of today, our repeated requests to meet with the owner have gone unanswered. However, we will continue to press forward and do everything possible to stay open up to and including making an offer to purchase the building. Thus far, our petition has garnered over 900 signatures and Public Advocate Letitia James and NY Senator Kevin Parker have stepped up to support our cause. Please sign and share our petition if you haven’t already at bit.do/savebarsepia. Our goal is to have 2k signatures by Wednesday. To donate, go to https://www.gofundme.com/savebarsepia. As promised, if we do not reach our goal, your donations will be returned. We will be open our regular hours for the next 6 days & go to https://www.barsepia.com for a list of our upcoming events and neighborhood initiatives that you can support particularly, The Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council's Annual Meeting on Monday, February 26 beginning at 7:00PM, at P.S. 9, 80 Underhill Avenue. City Council Member and Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo will provide opening remarks. • I think the Bar Sepia owners will likely be more successful if they can get the donees to help fund a security deposit and build out for a new location. They can't possibly be able to compete with the in contact buyer, who is likely a developer building UP who plans to sell condos or let rentals that have park and museum/library views.
