Paper recycling hero — Brooklynian

Paper recycling hero

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to the guy with spotted dog and messenger bag who subtly untied the transparent garbage bags in which I had put my papers and books for the recycling truck today. My hero gently went through all my stuff and took out books he liked, even those in a language I'm 99% sure he would not understand. Then he tied down the bags again, put the bags back where he found them and proceeded on his way, happily, I guess.
This is recycling in it's truest form, and I wish others would take this as an example.

  • Instead of throwing away about 20 used but clean moving book boxes, I was very pleased that someone came and picked them up for reuse after I had posted them on Craigs List. In about an hour. Recycling is great!
  • Were you the one who just took things out of storage?
  • Nope, just cleaned out the cellar.
