I need a new apartment. How can I find (besides craigslist)?

i live in a tiny (275 sq ft) rent stabilized "one bedroom" (walk through) and just a week ago someone moved in to an open unit. not sure if and when they will have more, but it's a nice little building.

Since I moved to CH I've seen quite a few signs on buildings for apartments. It might be a good idea to walk or drive around and look for them. I never saw any signs out in Park Slope but there are quite a few around here. I think I saw one on Washington and Dean and there are more I can't remember where now.

I'll try to keep an eye out for them and let you know and if I can I'll write the number down too. Also, it took me 10 months but I found a rent stabilized 1 bedroom apartment that allows dogs for $1000 with no fee. It was through craigslist and I was lucky but it is possible. So many people told me there was no way I would find a place near PS for that price that allows dogs.

You should consider looking a little beyond Washington, you're more likely to find something. Good luck!

We moved into our place on Underhill without realizing it was stabalized. We were, of course, pleasantly surprised.

I found a gorgeous renovated studio on CL with brand new everything (bathtub, toilet, refrigerator, stove, floors) and an exposed brick wall for $900 a month west of Washington. My bathroom is nicer than most hotel bathrooms. I don't think you're out of your price range. You just have to keep looking.

I have friends who live on Park Place between Franklin and Classon. The apartments are long and skinny, and there are 4 or 5 vacancies in there right now! They're paying $1250. The apartments are not fancy, in fact are a little beat, with sloping, linoleum floors and crapppy bathrooms. Let me know if you want the address, I have to ask them tonight what number it is. Convenient to the shuttle, if nothing else, and alot of space for the dough.

I'm looking for a 2 bedroom for $2100 or less in PS, PH or thereabouts - if anyone knows of an opening, please PM me. April 1 move in date. Finders fee if we end up taking it. Thanks!
