pretty far, yes. it was a US war. (i only found out about this yesterday, and thought it was sooo dorky kewl.)
care to guess again, MK? -
War of 1812!
(Right Tea?) -
MUCH closer, but not quite. you're very, very warm, though. care to try again?
-
Civil War!
-
spanish american war!
-
colder, colder.
not so much "hint" as "adorable fact": it was called the Turtle.
and it had glow-in-the-dark fungus to illuminate its compass.
MK? -
war of independent sweet tea?
-
{edited to removed duplication}
isn't 1812 and SpamAmerica lo mismo?
I'm sticking with Civil War! Change history to suit the answer please!
Now
who are the I-Threes? (extra points for naming the members) -
quijibo wrote: war of independent sweet tea?
that's a war i fight every day, honey.
i'm gonna assume you meant "independence", and award you the win!

what dya think of them apples, pitu? -
yes. mine was a play on words as usual
wow. i'd thought the submarine attack happened in the 1800's
who'd thunk it MK? -
not me, Q. i knew all about the Hunley, but had never heard of the Turtle. thanks for the lesson, sweet tea!
pitu, weren't the i-threes a female reggae group? beyond that, i dunno.
do you know the answer, Q? -
no way jose
i know nutin about the I-3's
how and where did Chet Baker die MK?
and this is not a love song....... -
shish is on the right track. someone, fill in the details!
chet...smack'd down? did clint eastwood make a film of it?
Carn, make an appearance already! -
Um, let's see Rita Marley, Judy and Martha were the I3s right?
Chet's demise was in Paris and alcohol-related. (Or was it a heart-attack?) I'm guessing...
Am I right, Carny? -
I just got home from work, and I have no idea about any of these questions (except like MK, I knew that "This Is Not A Love Song" was by PiL, and I knew that the first successful submarine attack was in the Civil War).
What was the first antiseptic used in medicine, developed by Joseph Lister, and which dramatically reduced the incidence of sepsis in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary?
hint: it ain't Listerine.
Got this one, doctorj? -
Phenol.
A two parter: Which borough of NYC is separated by a indigenous county of NYS and name the two neighborhoods in the borough that are separated. A free shoplifted chicken in a can to the one who answers. Keys? -
I'm gonna guess Staten Island, Idlewild...
John Casale had, arguably, the greatest acting career in Hollywood. He only made 5 films, including The Godfather, The Godfather part II, and Dog Day Afternoon. Which were the other two? Mama? -
i know half the answer, MK: it was The Deer Hunter. i don't know what the other one was. but continuing in the Casale vein: which famous actress was he engaged to?
any guesses, Idlewild? -
Can I answer, shish? Or am I disqualified for having started the Casale topic? What do you think sweet tea?
-
aw, what the heck, go for it.
i thought idlewild's question was going to have to do with those parts of manhattan that are sitting on the bronx since the changes in the harlem river. marble hill and maybe another one? but i don't know nothin' bout nothin'.
whyfi? what's an indigenous county? -
Far Rockaway is separated from the rest of Queens by Nassau County, right Idlewild?
And btw, phenol is wrong. -
Hooray for Scooter Libby!
(Oops, wrong thread.)
What's cooking, Alfernatious? -
are you sure, Carny? cuz if you're thinking "carbolic acid" is the answer to your question, "phenol" is just another name for it...
dunno about Ms. Alafairness, but i'm cooking some carrot ginger soup for dinner. seems like the right kind of weather for it. and i think i'll head over to Grab for a seriously crusty loaf of bread and some Irish butter to slather on it. mmmmm.
whatcha doin' tonight, Sweetmex? -

My papi chulo made the best garlic bread yesterday. Yum! Luvs me da buttah.
On a side note: Dubliner Irish Cheddar is the BOMB! Baby!
Can't wait to be home, I need to rest this achey breaky back.
ShishK? -
your back still is such a bad way, lovey? dang, i'm sorry. hopefully it's something you'll get over really quickly!
yes, ma'am, irish butter is the way to go. i'll cook with ye old hotel bar/breakstones/etc., but when it comes to using the stuff as a spread, i'll only eat irish butter if i can help it. IMHO, it's got a richer and warmer taste than the regular stuff. Grab, Blue Apron, and the butcher shop on PPW 'tween 16th and Windsor all carry it. it's got gold foil and green lettering, in case you ever want to look for it.
and BAN YOU, ya BANNY BANNED BANNER, BANivore! some BANNERS just can't take a BAN, ya BAN me, BAN-O? -
Banned for using "ban" like "smurf".
Back to you smurfkab. -
a pound of butter and a case of wine for your efforts, shish!
I'm partial to the Frenchy President in foil that suddenly I see everywhere...thems good buttah.
Are there Irish sausages at any of those joints, kebab? The video store in Windsor Terrace used to sell them out of their popsicle freezer, but someone bought the business and acted like *I* was the crazy one, looking for pork products in a video store.... -

you TOTALLY won that one! thanks for the BIG laugh ! -
sadly, pitu, the answer is no. i haven't looked too hard, but to my knowledge there aren't any Irish sausages in the nabe.
as a side note: what is the most difficult thing about shopping in Blue Apron or Grab for this old shishkabeenie? answer: actually sticking to the list and only buying what she set out to. just came back with other sundry goodies, such as some tasty looking spanish Idiazabal cheese. why oh why do i find it so hard to control myself? it's a disease, i tell ya. a disease!
ever have that problem, pitu?
Howdy, Stranger!
